Casing Deformation in a Tectonic Setting: Evaluation, Impact and Management

Ovalisation of casing strings has been detected in thetectonically active foothills of Colombia South America,initially through operational difficulties, and subsequently byextensive monitoring.Characterising the deformation, assessing its impact on wellintegrity, and developing a strategy for managing theconsequences to achieve improved business and operationaldecision making are summarized in this paper.
