With the fractal geometry introduced its applications in the microstructure researches of refractory materials have been presented, including (1)the fractal characters of surface morphology of andalusite particles and the relation with their thermal decomposition (2)the fractal characters of oxidation interface morphology in O'-Sialon/ZrO_2 composites and the relation with its oxidation reaction (3)the fractal characters of MF phase distribution in magnesia. The results indicate that the fractal geometry is so effective that the more information concealed in the microstructure can be discovered, which is impossible to do so by the conventional methods.
