Thus the outline shape and an arrangement of castable pores with forming a directed microporosity in a material, a partial destruction of the surface of silicon carbide grains under an action of a heat and gas flow and producing secondary formations (silica, carbon, SiC) in a reducing atmosphere and a reducing atmosphere with alkalizes vapours are an evidence of an active role of an evaporation ― condensation. This action promotes a material transport during a thermal treatment. These new formations clog pores, reinforce and strengthen a mullite corundum castable with an addition of SiC and increase its thermal conductivity as well as promote an the preservation of operation characteristics of castable at high temperatures in a reducing atmosphere.
