According to the thermodynamics analysis and the phase diagram of SiO_2-Al_2O_3-AlN-Si_3N_4 system, the □-Sialon-15R composite ceramics is tailored and synthesized at 2023K in N_2 Atmosphere. The samples dipped into liquid steel for different time indicated that an Al-rich film was formed on the surface to prevent the sample from more erosion. The kinetics analysis indicates that the erosion process can be divided into three steps: the interface chemical reaction, the interface chemical reaction combined diffusion, and the diffusion control the rate of erosion. The microstructure of erosion film was also studied with SEM.
