Data from routine final stage selection trials of the Burdekin Sugar Experiment Station's sugarcane breeding program were analysed to determine the nature and relative magnitude of genotype~* environment (G~*E) interactions, and their effects on the allocation of resources. Significant G~*E interactions, were detected and affected all measured traits. Variance components were used to estimate the relative magnitude of each G~*E component, with genotpe~*location crop-year > gentoype~*crop-year > genotype~*location.
