Water soluble amphoericin b-arabinogalactan conjugates for the treatment of experimental leishmaniases

摘要

Amphotericin B (AmB), a polyene antibiotic, is a standard drug for the treatment of fungal infections, and is currently recommended as treatment for Leishmanial infections. The main problems in using AmB as a drug are first its toxicity, mainly nephrotoxicity, which is usually the dose limiting factor, and second, its poor solubility in aqueous medium which requires special formulations for injection.
