In 1921, the introduction of synthetic fragrances such as Chanel No. 5 (11) was a milestone for the development of perfumes, which consist of volatile, strongly hydrophobic compounds. A factor of importance for these substances is the perception limit. It is desired that the release should be at a level shortly above this critical value, remain there constantly as long as possible and then drop to zero rapidly (1).
