Addition of Injectsil~(~R) additive and IPI~(TM) injection to the slag improve the reduction rate of the stainless steel furnace slag by coal reduction. The increased reduction rate boost the gas generation and hence a higher slag depth is obtained and the foamy process becomes more stabile with an increase reproducibility. A slag depth of 50 cm was obtained. Injection of IPI, Injectsil together with coal and air gave improved reduction of Cr losses to the slag.
