The load spectra are important data in designing and improving the machines. In some cases it is difficult to measure them directly, so indirect methods have to be adopted. A new method based on cepstrum analysis is proposed to identify the load spectra. This method can be used to eliminate the filtering influence of transfer function on the response signals so that the load spectra can be determined indirectly. It can also be used to identify torque spectrum. An example of engienering application on a road header was introduced in the end of this paper.
