Axisymmetric, turbulent, viscous flow simulations over the first Brazilian satellite launcher, the VLS, are presented. ^The emphasis of the work is on multiblock calculations for afterbody flows. ^The multiblock capability is implemented over an existing thin-layer Navier-Stokes code, and results with both the Baldwin-Lomax and the Baldwin-Barth turbulence closure models are discussed. ^The details of the multiblock implementation are presented together with a brief description of the numerical method, based on the Beam-Warming implicit approximate factorization algorithm. ^The implementation is validated against previous solutions for forebody flows over the same vehicle and through comparisons with experimental data for afterbody flows. ^The increased resolution of the multiblock calculations for the afterbody region is evidenced through comparisons with previous single block grid solutions. ^(Author)
