Statistical reliability assessment of steel lattice transmission lines in the emirate of ABU dhabi

An assessment of the physicla statistical reliability of 3,000 steel lattice transmission line towers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with respect to their physical integrity is presented. Field data were obtaiend for 11 attributes of tower integrity that were determined necessary to assure structural integrity. Transmission lines from 400 through 33 kV were included. A data base was created to summarize field data obtained at each voltage level for the Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain regins of the country. Each attribute was characterizedas acceptable or defective (not acceptable). The hyp[ergoemetric distribution was used to determine that 90 percent confidence was acheived at a 95 pecent reliability level. This evaluatin was compelted for the Government of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Department (WED).
