Abstract: Line profiles taking into account ion (Stark)broadening, ion dynamic effect, and electron collisionsare calculated for the Al$+10$PLU$/ lines at 154.7 and105.7 angstrom, and for the S$+13$PLU$/ line at 206.5angstrom in recombination lasers. The first two linesare formed of three fine structure components, whilethe third is constituted of nine components, and theresulting gain may be defined accordingly. The electroncollisions yield an homogeneous broadening, while theStark interaction with neighboring ions is responsiblefor an asymmetry of the whole profile. Consistentlywith the experimental determination of the gain, wecalculate the total intensity involving the populationinversions of the set of components which contribute tothe lasing radiation, and deduce an effectivesmall-signal gain coefficient. We discuss our resultsand compare them to experimental gains. !20
