The paper proposes a method of estimating elastic constants of thin plates basedon the guided waves propagation and the inverse problem solution. In the proposedapproach a Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer measurements are employed to findthe dispersion curves of Lamb waves propagating in thin plates. The virtualcounterpart of the experiment is a numerical solution of high frequency wavepropagation problem using the Local Interaction Simulation Approach. Theexperimental and simulated data are combined in a model-based material constantsidentification framework. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstratedon an isotropic aluminium and composite plates. The results of the identificationprocedure are compared with the classical materials testing techniques in order toprove the good accuracy of the proposed approach.
