A set of models required for the design of a heterogeneous wireless network is developed in this paper. The network is considering an open-loop model with an unlimited number of sensors. The article introduces and studies a new stochastic characteristic of the quality of the heterogeneous wireless sensor network functioning, which expands the concept of connectivity. It reflects network’s ability to establish connections between network elements within the boundaries of the sensory field in real time. Based on real data of experiments, a model was developed, which was used to determine the real data transmission rate in a wireless sensor network depending on the number requests staying in the coverage area of the base station.
