Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) will form a fast transient overvoltage during operation, affecting the safe operation of the primary equipment connected to it, especially the transformer. In order to quantify the closing overvoltage of the main transformer of the GIS booster station, this paper uses the electromagnetic transient analysis software ATP-EMTP to establish a distributed parameter model. Mainly simulate the impact of GIS boost station equipment operation, the number of outgoing lines, the length of the pipeline connecting the transformer to the GIS bus, the distance between the arrester and the high-voltage winding on the main transformer closing overvoltage. Finally, the characteristics of the main transformer closing overvoltage were obtained.
