In recent years, railways have been receiving attention as an environmentally friendly mode of transportation. Because of concern for the environment, there is now a modal shift from other means of transport to railways. However, there is a need to improve both environmental performance and interior comfort as transport speeds increase. The interior noise tends to worsen as trains travel faster. Further research and development of methods for reducing interior noise are required. In this article, we introduce an overview of train interior noise mitigation that has been achieved by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
