In August of 2017, Hurricane Harvey, a tropical stonn that escalated into a Category 4 hurricane, hit the Gulf Coast of Texas. The wettest tropical cyclone on record in the United States, Hurricane Harvey poured over 27 trillion gallons of rain over Texas and flooded Houston alone with 51.66 inches of rainfall, causing extensive damage to Houston's metropolitan area.
