Wastewater to Wine: DPR, Wine, and Centennial Celebrations

Colorado drafted its first state Water Plan in 2015 to manage its water resources through the upcoming challenges of climate change, drought and population growth. The plan called for potable reuse to be developed as a supply option for the state. In response, Carollo Engineers, Western Resource Advocates, Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) and WateReuse Colorado (WRCO) embarked on a multi-phase project to develop regulations for direct potable reuse. As part of the education and outreach component of the project, a pilot plant demonstrating non-reverse osmosis treatment and producing water for beer and wine production was completed and incorporated into Denver Water's year-long centennial celebration.
