In this study, we found that different intervals between TiO_2 hemisphere patterns generated various mechanical resistances to cells and their filament structures were under stretching. Hence, this stress led to cytoskeleton rearrangement and then modulated cell morphologies, signal transduction indirectly and gene expression directly. Changes of cell morphological are directly correlated to osteogenic differentiation tendency . This study revealed that the nano scaled TiO_2 hemisphere surface patterns can significantly promote osteogenic differentiation and mineralization of MC3T3-El cells excluding the intervention of other material surface characters such as chemical property.
