Testing electronic devices for railways and aircrafts requires a wide range of mechanical and electric checks to be performed. One of the most significant tests is the vibration test. Vibration tests are performed by submitting the electronic equipment to vibrations with a standard spectrum. The paper proposes a vibrating table, able to provide controlled vibrations in a wide range of frequencies. The actuator of the vibrating table is a single-phase linear permanent magnet motor. This solution is simpler and cheaper than standard vibrating tables, which are mainly based on mechanical principles. According to its electromechanical principle, it allows a better control of the oscillations and better dynamical behaviour. The operation of the linear motor is based on the cooperation of different types of force, mainly: the electromagnetic force, the cogging force, the elastic force and the friction. The paper provides the electromagnetic and mechanical analysis of the linear single-phase actuator. The simulation is used to verify the feasibility of the proposed solution and its compliances to the aeronautic standard.
