This paper aims to put in evidence the functional principle of a solar tracker in an easy to understand manner for students. It will start from presenting the concept of green energy, the principle of how a photovoltaic cell is made, how to increase the efficiency of a solar panel by orientation after its movement and what algorithms can be used in order to increase the overall efficiency. It will also study the implementation of a practical solution using a solar panel on two freedom axes with two servomotors and four photoresistors which are controlled by an Arduino UNO unit so the direct exposure time of the panel in the Sun can be increased.
