The smooth impact drive mechanism (SIDM) is driven by the asymmetry drive signal and the motions of "stick" and "slip" are produced at the driving part of friction rod. The motions can influent the slider displacement. The motions are helpful to analysis qualitatively and quantitatively the slider displacement including forward, backward and valid step. The SIDM motion process is analyzed and the stick-slip critical time is obtained. For check the theoretical stick-slip critical time, the experiment system is built, which is composed of personal computer, signal generator, power amplifier and laser displacement sensor. A series trapezoid drive signal which has different rising edge time is applied for exciting the smooth impact diving mechanism. The experiment results show that the stick-slip critical time is 500 μs. The theoretical calculation result is 472 μs. The two results have a little error.
