Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources uses magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) in the collection systems to aid with odor and corrosion control. This study was conducted to establish a common testing protocol to compare various commercial Mg(OH)2 products to help achieve the target pH of 8.5 within a 150-minute testing period. Parameters such as particle size distribution, magnesium hydroxide content, and dosage requirements were analyzed to compare product performance.
