How MWRD Transformed it's antiquated line locate program into a Model of Efficiency

Every water and wastewater utility operates distribution or collection systems that transport water to and from the treatment facility. These systems are often located within construction zones for both residential and commercial projects. To protect these valuable assets, utilities are required to properly locate and mark the assets within construction areas. Determining if a line locate is needed and then properly locating assets is critical to protecting distribution and collection systems but is also a time- and resource-consuming process. The Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (MWRD) updated their Line Locate process to use today's technology and realized a time savings of 44%.
