The idea of multi-cell started form the first generation (1G) of cellular technology though it was just the analog service which uses high frequency was used to modulate the signal. With the start of the second generation (2G) cellular technology this got shifted to digital approach which includes the digital encryption of voice, thereby increasing security and also it introduced SMS. With the release of third generation (3G) cellular technology, the mobile devices started to connect with the internet and also got enhanced on security and privacy. 4G is said to be the advanced version of 3G technology. LTE has evolved with promise of increased downlink and uplink data rates. The use of OFDMA and MIMO technology provides improved performance for LTE service.Filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) transmission utilizing offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OQAM), found to be the next promising technique after OFDM for the future wireless communication. FBMC reduces the Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) and increases the bandwidth efficiencyis increased. The MIMO channel for the filter bank multi-carrier system based on offset quadrature amplitude modulation can be estimated by utilizing the pilot signals. The essential and adequate condition for the orthogonal channel estimation can be derived by decomposing the received pilots into real and imaginary components. Using semi-blind method that is arranging a bundle of pilots, forcing scalar ambiguities to the subsequent sequences increases the performance of the channel to be estimated. Finally the performance is evaluated.
