In this paper, BaTiO3-based high-voltage ceramic capacitors for lightning arrester were used as research objects, and the changes of dielectric constant and loss after pre-applied electric field at different aging stages were studied. The results showed that for the un-aged sample (new firing), the pre-applied electric field increased the dielectric loss at 0.35kV/mm from 0.05 to 0.08, and the change rate of the dielectric loss with the electric field increased from 14.4% to 22.7. %; For short-time aging samples, the pre-applied electric field reduced the dielectric loss of the sample at 0.35kV/mm from 0.046 to 0.007, and the change rate with electric field decreased from 13% to 0.4%; for the long time aging sample, the pre-applied electric field increased the dielectric loss of the sample at 0.35kV/mm from 0.036 to 0.065, and the average rate of change of the electric field with the increase of electric field increased from 9% to 17%. This result was attributed to the orientation of the defect dipole and has the important engineering significance.
