FXIII supplementation increases fibrin-rich clot adhesion, but only recovers adhesion in fibrin-poor clots when added in conjunction with Q-PEG. Q-PEG maintains clot adhesion during tPA treatment. Q-PEG-like materials will be further developed and tested in animal models of hemorrhage with the goal of developing an intravenous hemostat for the treatment of trauma-induced coagulopathy.
