摘要

The immune response to a biomaterial infection following trauma based on analysis of systemic and tissue resident immune cell populations showed downregulation of the functional immune cell populations investigated (T cells and macrophages). and upregulation of a suppressive immune cell population (His48+CD11b+ cells), indicating immune dysregulation and immunosuppression typically associated with trauma, but not infection. Based on these analyses, T cells, macrophages, or His48+CD11b+ cells could be potential effective targets for immunomodulatory therapeutics for trauma following biomaterial-mediated infection.
