Improving the Mental Health of Senior Citizens using Pygame

In this digital era, life expectancy of human has increased considerably and the world is seeing more aged population than youth. World Health Organization and healthcare sectors are finding innovative and affordable solutions for improving the life style and health of senior citizen. People nearing retirement age are said to suffer with depression. Symptoms of depression include memory loss, feeling of loneliness, reduced energy level, low self-esteem, poor memory, etc. One of the effective solutions to combat depression is to talk to friends or relatives. This paper introduces a serious pygame, which can talk to the person like a friend and helps to boost up his memory level. The game is designed with a main character named BOND and 4 supporting characters. The day-to-day activities to be done are repeated again and again so that, the cognitive power can be maintained. The effectiveness of the game is tested with 100 elders are above 55 years of age and quantitative analysis have proved the cognitive abilities have improved and the game is found to be interesting and functions similar to Dora, the explorer.
