Conclusions: Uniform and well-dispersed chitosan nanoparticles were prepared by an emulsion crosslinking method. Then the nanoparticles were modified with different kinds and different amount of albumin with a similar size around 150 nm. Platelet activation was aggravated after introduction of the OVA 15% and OVA 250%, while HSA 15% and HSA 250% did not show much influence. Besides, OVA 250% induced larger phagocytosis by granulocyte than HSA 250%. These findings do suggest some cautions need to be taken in future biomedical applications of chitosan nanoparticles.
