Surgical scheduling with participators' behavior considerations under multiple resource constraints

Operation room scheduling not only deals with deciding on the time to perform the surgeries in the case of full and efficient utilization of medical resources and guaranteeing surgery quality for patients, but also needs to consider how to respond to emergency cases. Under the limited hospital resources constraints, this task plays a significant role in providing timely treatments for the emergency patients while considering the conflicting interests of several stakeholders involved (e.g., elective patients, OR managers, medical staff) and achieving all their different objectives. By comparing emergency cases scheduling and the disruption problem of unexpected new arrival orders in manufacturing, this paper focuses on the main behavioral participators in the surgery operation process to measure deviations based on the prospect theory, and formulates the bicriteria model which considers both the original objective and the deviation with the knowledge gained in FFSSP. A universal heuristic algorithm, NSGA-III, is proposed numerical experiments are performed to efficiently solve this model. Numerical experiments are performed by integrating testing dataset in Pham et al and the results showed a superior performance of deviation measure based on prospect theory.
