A History of Internet Network Project in Novosibirsk Scientific Center

摘要

Internet project in Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS) in Novosibirsk was initiated by informal group of active scientists which suggested a plan approved by official organizations, that was necessary for success of the project. They managed to earn money from different sources and define areas of responsibilities of each participant. The Novosibirsk project was successfully completed, all institutes get access to global computer network, and then Internet was spread to all scientific centers of SB RAS. This paper is mainly concerned with social and managerial issues which were the most significant for success of the project.
