A Comparison of Wave Height Forecasts against Wave Measurements for a Location in the Barents Sea and in the Norwegian Sea

This paper compares the deterministic wave forecasts against wavemeasurements for a location in the Barents Sea and a location in theNorwegian Sea. A comparison of the wave forecast quality based onthe entire period of forecasts showed that the wave forecasts for theBarents Sea location is of good quality, however, the uncertainty in thewave forecasts over varying forecast lead times is higher for theBarents Sea location compared to the Norwegian Sea location. Also,when comparing a summer month and a winter month, the uncertaintyis higher for the Barents Sea location in winter.
