The acoustic behavior is one important criterion for electric machines, which is determined by the vibration behavior of the electric machine’s stator. To fully describe this system, every component of the stator active part and its housing needs to be considered and analyzed concerning their influence on eigenfrequencies, eigenmodes and damping. In this paper, the impact of the winding copper on these parameters is investigated. Therefore, stator cores of an electric machine are taken from the different steps of the manufacturing process and their vibration behavior is analyzed performing a modal analysis. Multiple stator cores are examined to determine deviations within the production process. The frequency response functions, eigenmodes, eigenfrequencies and modal damping are compared and evaluated. The winding copper has a negligible influence on the value of the eigenfrequencies but shows a significant impact on the damping behavior. The damping decreases with the order of the eigenmode and the eigenfrequency.
