With a performing project XH140721, exploiting the phone localization is one of the emerging technologies to improve the rescue of buried people in ruins after disasters, such as earthquakes and avalanches. As a prerequisite, the channel characteristic is necessary to study. This paper analyses wifi 2.4G radio signal propagating style. Combining the theoretical prediction and experimentally measuring some sites of “512” Wenchuan earthquake in China in 2008, the campaign is experimented about large scale fading. The main results are the estimates of the excess path loss. Adopting the method such as window added and moving average, the characteristics of the wifi 2.4G band radio signal is recorded for the basement of next localization platform.
