摘要

Atmosphere is the main obstacle in the path of radiance leaving the earth surface to satellite. Due to various effects as absorption and scattering, atmosphere produces noise which alters quality of the ground radiance. Scientists have been working long time for atmospheric correction. However, all the correction methods are based on hypothesizes as atmosphere is of layer structure; horizontally homogeneous in one image scene; near infrared bands is almost not effected by the atmosphere etc. In this study, the authors use 131 Landsat 8 OLI scenes collected in years 2013 and 2014 over 9 sunniest places from Africa, USA and Australia for the research. 31 different pseudo invariant features as water, sand, road, airport runway and rooftop were selected for study of the variability of the atmosphere effect. The study pointed out that hypothesizes on that the atmospheric correction methods developed are not always fulfilled. There is a need to have new approach to atmospheric correction.
