摘要

From the above imaging and sound recordings, we conclude that the 200 μm thick transverse fracture bands, which appear during the slip-phase of the peeling, play a significant part in the detachment dynamics and in the generation of sound during tape peeling. The screeching sound clearly has high-frequency components and the presence of supersonic motions of the fractures may explain this fact. However, the details of the sound formation remains to be determined. Our current experiments focus is on this aspect of this fascinating problem. The challenge also remains to incorporate these dynamics into the predominantly 1-D theoretical models used to date to described the stick-slick dynamics.
