This paper outlines the development of methods that would communicate critical information an incident commander at a wildland fire. This information would quickly tell the incident commander where the fire is and allow him to make an informed decision about the fire's predicted behavior and the best steps to contain it. Various image analysis techniques from multispectral images are examined to determine viability of automatic tracking methods for smoke detection and fire perimeters from aerial images. This paper evaluated the area and perimeter as two shape constraints to identify a candidate smoke blob in a video sequence. NDVI and SfM techniques are examined for use in mapping changes to wildfire fuel conditions.
