Planning and Execution of High Risk Bridge Demolition

The I-91 Brattleboro replacement project required removing the two existing 880 foot steel truss bridgesconstructed in 1958. The bridge demolition presented a myriad of unique challenges that required innovativeengineering, planning, and oversight to overcome. Bridge Information Models (BrIM) and structural analysismodels were used extensively during the planning phase, mitigating risks associated with the geometryconstraints, limited access, and logistical challenges.
