In this paper, the role of re-closer relay in the case of decreasing arc flash hazard on a power system network is presented. An arc flash analysis performs on system to identify the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) category, so solutions for PPE category optimization are studied. The results emphasize that by applying re-closer relay, PPE category are optimized and changed to better (lower) range and covers reference standards requirements. Also incident energy reduces and Arc Flash Boundary (AFB) limited to lower distance which are definitely mandatory and vital for the safety of persons who are doing maintenance and work on/around hot lines. Simulation is done by intelligent simulating software like Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP).
