Linguistic Features of '歇后语' (The Two-Part Allegorical Sayings): A Perspective from the Usage of Punctuations

摘要

In this paper, it is been found that both the quantity of punctuations and a variety ways on the usage of punctuations in two-part allegorical sayings are not restricted to the only one common view, namely "using dash between the introduction and the interpretation (I-I)". It exists some complex phenomenon such as "different punctuations, same saying" and "same punctuation, different sayings". On the basis of static analysis, this paper focuses on the rules of punctuations between the I-I and combines with illustrating the dynamic changes of the I-I structure. As a result, we found that punctuations between the I-I are limited by the dynamic change rules of two-part allegorical sayings, which contain the rule of structure, function and semantics.
