Relationship between Vehicle Emissions and Air Quality within a Transfer Center Area of Downtown: A Case in Wuhan, China

The increasing use of vehicles in transfer centers has been criticized for increasing traffic jams and air pollution. Although traffic volume and transfer seamless, as well as financial plans, have been emphasized throughout design and reconstruction, the extra emission has been always neglected. In response, this study analyses the impact of vehicle emissions on the air quality within transfer area using data from Wuhan Metropolitan which is distant from industrial district. Detailed characteristics of air quality evaluation indicators and traffic flow are quantified by time sequence and modeled, in which various factors which may cause negative effects are also considered. The result shows that vehicle pollution impacts on the air quality can be presented by a liner relationship with the time; PM_(2.5) and PM_(10) have a good fitness in the model, and are affected by emission of NO and HC.
