Secure and scalable device-to-device communication will foster the emergence of new innovative services in the IoT. In this context, delegated access control is primordial to guarantee the enforcement of security policies among a multitude of IoT devices. This paper surveys the IETF Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments (ACE) proposal that securely enables resource-constrained servers to locally authorize client requests.
