We have discovered that the leaf beetle can walk freely underwater by using air bubbles trapped between adhesive hairs. The mechanism was successfully transferred to a new underwater adhesion technology. This adhesion method is an eco-friendly technique, because it does not apply any specific chemistry but rather geometry of the surface.
