This case study reviews the stability for skidway foundation and quay wall during load-out operation of an offshore structure. The expectations of settlement and foundation failures during load-out are critical issue in design phase. The foundations should be designed to have the sufficient margins, and additional reinforcement methods should be prepared against excessive settlement and foundation failures. Therefore, in this study, the stability checks for both skidway foundations and quay wall were performed using 3D FEA. As the results of analysis, the skidway foundation and quay wall could be confirmed to have the reasonable relative settlement and adequate safety margins. Reinforcement such as embedded mats & pile foundations were also showed to be appropriate. Moreover, complex soil composition and unbalance forces, which cannot be considered in the method of empirical general equation, were introduced to estimate more accurate and realistic results. 3D FEA is found to handle the design problems promptly and make a reliable foundation design for load-out operation.
