This paper proposes a new method for evaluating equity of bus spatial availability. The objective of using equity is to quantify and evaluate how bus service is distributed among population and employment locations, with the goal of significantly enhancing policy analysis. The essence of the measure is quantifying service supply satisfaction to traffic demand. In the demand portion, K-Means Clustering Analysis is conducted to determine the degree of traffic demand, while level of bus spatial coverage is modified by street connectivity and practical bus-serviced area, in terms of supply. The method is then applied to the planned bus skeleton network of Changxing Center Area. The results of the case study suggest the DSI is effective and could be a useful reference to help decision-makers analyze and optimize the distribution of bus service in a more equitable manner.
