A Study of Shift Workers for Role Conflict Effect: Quality of Life-Emotional Exhaustion as Mediator

Globalization of the competitive market and the diverse needs of society have produced today's work patterns, which differ from the agricultural age and produce a twenty-four hour industrial society. Shift work has become one of the social work patterns which, while shift workers often need to adjust to different times of the day and change their daily routine of life to adjust to the long-term impact of shifts on work performance. These changes have reduced life quality, leading to negative emotions and physiological and mental fatigue. This study on Semiconductor technology conducted an employee questionnaire survey using 250 questionnaires, and 226 questionnaires were recovered for a rate of 94.1%. The study found that Semiconductor technology industry employees present a significant effect for Role Conflict to Emotional Exhaustion, Emotional Exhaustion and a negative impact on Quality of Life, and Role Conflict insignificantly influences Quality of Life. A full mediating affect of Emotional Exhaustion between Role Conflict and Quality of Life is supported.
