The results of airborne gravity surveys using LaCoste &Romberg zero-length spring sensor airborne gravimetersdepend on dynamic corrections which include the Eötvöscorrection and the deduction of the vertical acceleration ofthe moving aircraft. Typically, the former is a function ofa single point position and velocity and can be modeledmathematically, while the latter is a differentiation ofvelocities and difficult to determine for differentdynamics using an analytic method. In an effort toimprove gravimetry results, several different methods fordetermination of the vertical acceleration are tested usingsurvey data released for the NOAA NGS GRAV-DKinematic GPS Challenge Project. These methods includethe kinematic DGPS position method, the DGPS carrierphase acceleration method, and the GPS/IMU looselycoupled position method.This paper will summarize and review these threemethods with their advantages and disadvantages first,and then conclude with some useful recommendations forpractical production through comparison and analysis ofthe results of their application to GRAV-D airbornegravity survey data.
