Thinking in French society and its institutions is increasingly turning towards the environmental issueslinked to the consumption and generation of energy. Development of renewable energies and the needto control peak demands for electricity are a driving force behind the decision of the Frenchtransmission system operator, RTE, to publish data on its website aimed at raising public awareness ofthe impact of electricity consumption in terms of CO2 emissions.In 2010, RTE management launched the MIXTR and éCO2mix projects with the objective ofpublishing data on the company’s website and via Smartphone media.Data on French electricity consumption, the French energy mix, the CO2 footprint of electricitygeneration and wind-driven forecasts, published as part of the éCO2mix project, are sourced from thegroup of generating sites linked both directly and indirectly to RTE. Where wind-driven generation isconcerned, forecast data is also supplied by producers and calculated by RTE.This article will attempt to describe the mechanism of acquisition, processing, aggregation, andpublication, which is achieved through a multilayer architecture of information technologies allowingthe processing of data specific to wind power, which is a part of the French energy mix.
