1. Oil shale zones with a high percentage of debris flow or blebby oil shale have highly variable kerogen contents whereas kerogen content in intervals with mostly laminated oil shale is much more uniform. 2. The organic matter and marlstone chips that compose blebby oil shale may have washed in from the marginal shelves during storms. 3. Blebby oil shale is dominant in the early history of Lake Uinta with laminated oil shale generally increasing through time.
